What are the differences between Marble, Granite and Quartzite?Marble is a metamorphic rock, and originates from dolomite or limestone. It is known for having various unique colors and patterns, but is not as strong compared to Granite or Quartzite. The beauty of Marble is unparalleled. For example, a slab of Calacatta Marble can go up to $250 per SQFT where as a slab of Carrara can be as low as $30 per SQFT. Granite is an igneous rock, primarily consisting of feldspar and quartz. Granite is very durable and is stronger than Marble. It tends to be on the cheaper side when compared to other stone materials due to its uniform colors and patterns. Quartzite is a metamorphic rock like Marble and is made up of Quartz. This makes Quartzites slightly more durable and stronger than Granite. Quartzites come in a variety of different colors and patterns. It can even be compared to the beauty and aesthetics that comes with Marble. Quartzites on average tend to be more expensive since they are stronger than Granite and hold the same beauty as found in Marble. Check out our stock of natural stones!
Significant difference between Natural Stones and QuartzNatural Stones include Marble, Granite, Quartzite, Soapstone, Limestone and Onyx. All these different types of Natural Stones are unique in their own way. However, all share the same foundation in made over millions of years, naturally. Quartz is 100% natural. However, Quartz slabs used for residential/commercial applications are 90% Quartz, the remainder of the slab is comprised of resins, polymers and various types of pigments. In that sense Quartz slabs are categorized as engineered or man-made. Check out our post to see the advantages of quartz!
